False Creek’s First CITY NATURE CHALLENGE – 2024!

Hey False Creek Nature Lovers…between April 26 – 29 we will for the first time be participating in an international competition where cities are in a friendly contest with each other to see who can make the most observations of nature, who can find the most species, and who can engage the most people.

Join others throughout the Metro Vancouver Regional district who are participating in the City Nature Challenge, part of a global event to observe and record the biodiversity of living things! Help us to explore and share the incredible biodiversity of our area by observing nature all around us – birds, bats, butterflies, molluscs, trees, ferns and more!

And for the first time, we will be organizing a CNC event covering False Creek’s entire watershed in partnership with Nature Vancouver, which is leading a metro-wide challenge .

The City Nature Challenge for the Metro Vancouver Regional district area is a partnership of 21 municipalities, one electoral area and one treaty First Nation. The regional district includes the following: Anmore, Belcarra, Bowen Island, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Delta, Electoral Area A, Langley City, Langley Township, Lions Bay, Maple Ridge, New Westminster, North Vancouver City, North Vancouver District, Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Richmond, Surrey, scəẃaθən məsteyəxʷ (Tsawwassen First Nation), Vancouver, West Vancouver, White Rock.

.Join Nature Vancouver and all its partners in iNaturalist to help us record as many WILD plants and animals as possible throughout the district on land, in the air and in our marine environments.
