As a fairly new Society incorporated in the Province of British Columbia, we are just a small number of people who spend a lot of time on False Creek. We believe that False Creek has plenty of unrealized potential to be a better and more beautiful thing than it currently is, and we’d like to see that potential realized. While at the moment the notion of an Urban Marine Park appeals to us, our minds are open.
At the moment our ringleaders can be found here, a handful of Lower Mainland residents who happen to spend a lot of time bicycling around False Creek and in their small boats on its surface.
Our short-term plans include:
- Diversifying ourselves so that we reflect a more representative pallette of the human rainbow.
- Reaching out to potential partners, most importantly the First Nations whose unceded territory surrounds the creek, but also including civic organizations such as Science World and Granville Island, as well as commercial entities such as Concord Pacific and the yacht clubs.
- Commissioning a high-quality public-opinion poll to learn more about Vancouverites’ views of False Creek’s potential futures.
