False Creek Friends is proud to share the remarkable work of UBC Sustainability Scholar Yash Mehta. His investigation conducted over the summer of 2023 included an exhaustive search into relevant, inspiring projects worldwide where threats to environmental entities were effectively confronted through campaigns for Environmental Personhood – legal rights for natural entities. As part of a global movement to enshrine the concept of the Rights of Nature, Yash’s work in False Creek revealed that longstanding, seemingly intractable dilemmas might well be addressed through community-led campaigns.
